School History...
In 1890 there was a missionary education widely spread in Southern. In that period Galle high school started. according to this Education revolution in 1896 one of the English central colleges was started. It was a small thatched house with eight students. Mr. P. Dissanayake was the first principal of that small college. According to the known history great donator Mr. P. Dissanayake sponsored this land for the school.
Under British colonial there was a chance to get English education to those who wealthy and Powerful during the period of Sir Henry Steal Olcott, that was Buddhist revolution era. It was highly affected to the Galle also. Because of that Buddhist philosophy raised up.
From that time of period, there were many principlas. Mr.P.Dissanayake, Mr. Charles Hewavitharana, Mr.D.J.Dissanayake, Mr. W.K.Darmawardana, Rev. Thalawe Darmarama.
In 1990s it was a threat of decreasing number of children in the school. So former minister of education came across with the problem and he nominated School as a Navodya School, in 1996 it was nominated Dr.Richard Pathirana College.
After those changes Dr.Richard Pathirana College has a bright time of period. In 2012 after introducing Technology scheme number of teachers and physical resources were rapidly expanded.
